Supanova Superheroes Community Care Sunset Haven Retreat

“Hi everyone, my name is Sharon Garcia. I was introduced to the Superheroes Community Care respite accommodation program while visiting my family in Nowra, New South Wales. A young lady accompanied me to Nowra for her respite holiday. Some of my family are volunteers and Directors of Superheroes Events Limited which runs Superheroes Community Care. They were holding a celebration high tea for their volunteers and we were invited to join them for an amazing occasion, where we were warmly welcomed and all had a wonderful time.

During the high tea, I had the opportunity to hear about the volunteer charity work of Superheroes Community Care and the sponsoring of short accommodation stays for families with chronically ill kids and families requiring benevolent assistance, at their respite retreats. Having being involved with respite care, I know how important the provision of this service is for these families and how much they need and would benefit from such a sponsored break.

After 20 amazing years at the end of 2023, I retired from teaching special-needs students. While teaching, I was inspired to provide respite and homeshare as a caregiver in my own home.Giving back to community and helping families in need is something I still continue to enjoy doing. Burnout is a real and present issue for families managing the challenges of providing 24/7 care for someone who has complex needs and disabilities. So to be able to provide respite care and assist provide families with a break from the difficulties they are experiencing is a special privilege. After sharing my story with Superheroes Community Care and hearing their story, I was keen to see if I could help by the offering of my home in Perth, Western Australia, to be used as a Superheroes Community Care respite retreat.

After many long conversations and subsequent agreement, I am delighted to be part of the Superheroes Community Care benevolent respite accommodation program. I am honoured to make my home available to be the new Superheroes Community Care Sunset Haven Retreat and the charity’s first respite retreat outside New South Wales.

Looking forward to being part of the Superheroes Community Care team and helping families in crisis and those requiring benevolent assistance.

With all my love and kindness. Sharon”

CellAED Defibrillator QR Code Donation Campaign

Superheroes Events Limited through our Premier’s Cup Golf Charity Tournament and Charity Q Series is raising funds to expand the number of defibrillators to help save lives, primarily in the Shoalhaven Heads, South Coast area of New South Wales.

Initially through Heart180 Founder and Superheroes Community Care River Retreat Patron Guy Leech we were introduced to this important cause in our region.

Superheroes Events Limited together with an independant team of local community members has come together with the mission of increasing the number and range of defibrillators in our local area to help save more lives, both adults and children.

Our campaign is in honour and in memory of the late Doctor Barry Gray, a highly respected local community champion, who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at his home in Shoalhaven Heads in October 2022. Our campaign is fully endorsed by Doctor Gray’s wife Mrs Robyn Gray, to whom we are very grateful.

To further our campaign Superheroes Events Limited/Superheroes Community Care, in addition to our continued support of Heart180, have also become a Referrer Partner of Australian company Rapid Response Revival, the manufacturers and suppliers of the CellAED defibrillators, to increase the survival rate following a sudden cardiac arrest.

These defibrillators are affordable, easy to use, transportable and suitable for both adults and children. The ability to carry these with you, have them in your cars/motor vehicles, when traveling in Australia or overseas as well as your home. Our donation of CellAEDs to the community is an important part of defibrillator campaign goal

For every 10 CellAEDs ordered using our below Community Charity QR Code Rapid Response Revival will donate a CellAED back to our South Coast Superheroes “Heart Safe” region campaign, to help save sudden cardiac lives. “

Our Patron - Guy Leech

“I was very proud to accept the invitation to be the Patron of the Superheroes Community Care River Retreat. I’ve personally been touched by losing a very close friend and a young family member and am passionate about helping to save lives and helping to provide assistance to families with chronically ill kids and families requiring benevolent assistance.

I share this community goal with the South Coast Superheroes volunteers and look forward to sharing this journey with them.

I am also working with Superheroes Community Care to increase the installation of defibrillators in the South Coast and Southern Highlands region. For every arranged installation Heart180 is donating $400 to the Superheroes Community Care to assist with the running of the Superheroes Community Care River Retreat and the sponsoring of short accommodation respite stays for families at the waterfront property situated on the beautiful Shoalhaven River at Shoalhaven Heads, New South Wales.

Heart180 and Superheroes Community Care are proudly working together to help families and save lives. Please join us!”
